Bus Stories

This is a group of stories I wrote to play a game with the kids on my bus.
For a while I drove a schoolbus. It was an ordeal getting a commercial license and then learning the ropes of the job, but I came away with a great sense of accomplishment.
Plus I drove a big, yellow bus AND talked on the radio to all the other drivers at the same time. It’s every 10-year-old boy’s dream! lol!

OK so – I needed to find a way to connect with the kids on the bus because, as a substitute driver, I got no respect.
And the kids were often times rowdy.

Sometimes during the afternoon run I would pull out of the high school where they all transferred before going home, then go around the corner and pull over.
The kids would all move to the front of the bus. So they could hear.

I would tell them the rules:
“I am going to read this story. Listen carefully because at the end I am going to bark out a question and THE FIRST KID WHO YELLS OUT THE ANSWER….gets the prize.
It was always candy.
Hey – gimme a break. I didn’t have the budget for vegan, raw deserts.

After the game, we had a pretty nice ride home. It sorta got us all on the same page, I think.
Anyway, it was fun.
